Jobs, Internships, Permanent Positions
The seventh career fair, held under the name TalentConnect, took place successfully at the European Campus of the Deggendorf Institute of Technology (DIT). Approximately 300 students eagerly seized the opportunity to make initial contacts with 13 primarily regional companies.
Every fall, this well-established event focused on taking the first steps in one’s career takes place. Dean Prof. Dr. Christian Steckenbauer described the central goal as “connecting students with companies.” In addition, during a joint tour of the fair, Mayor Wolfgang Beißmann encouraged attendees to “infuse the region with fresh ideas.” For the first time, current students offered useful tips on internships. In addition, successful DIT graduates shared insights from their own experiences on how to successfully enter the German job market.
With this in mind, a productive exchange took place for four hours at the booths set up throughout the ground floor of the laboratory building. The industries represented by the participating companies ranged from construction to information technology. Specifically, the DIT Career Service, led by local organizer Elfriede Hartmann, brought the following companies to the European Campus: AOK (information booth), Altruan, EURES – Beratung der Agentur für Arbeit, FACC, FotoFinder Systems, GREG + Center of Entrepreneurship (information booth), IGK Ingenieurgesellschaft Klein, IMS (formerly OH-BQM Consulting), Lindner Group, Penzkofer Bau, Stela Laxhuber, Techniker Krankenkasse, WIEHAG Timber Construction.
Prof. Dr. Steckenbauer used the event to present three female students with prizes, accompanied by the mascot Deggster. The trio had recently won these prizes at the “Meet Your Campus” event following the first-semester orientation day. The lucky winners are: Yueqing Zhai from China, Subodha Abeyrathna from Sri Lanka, and Anusha Satheesh from India.
