Dear fellow professors, dear lecturers,
dear staff members,
dear colleagues,
dear students,
As we reach the end of an eventful year, I would like to address you with a few personal words. The world around us is undergoing noticeable change. International conflicts and uncertainties weigh on many of us and shape our daily lives. It is particularly in times such as these that the value of solidarity, mutual support and mindful coexistence becomes apparent. And the foundation for all of this: mutual trust. At the same time, the hope for global peace remains a central concern – including for our international university, which stands for dialogue, education and responsibility.
We all hope that this optimism proves justified and that the coming year brings us closer to the ideal of a more peaceful world.
I would like to express my sincere thanks, recognition and appreciation to all of you.
Through your dedication, creativity and perseverance, you have played a key role in the continued growth and development of Deggendorf Institute of Technology – in teaching, research and knowledge transfer alike.
I am pleased to look back on the many successes and new joint projects we have advanced at our study locations, as well as in our research and technology transfer centres and institutes.
Our students have once again delivered remarkable performances, and our lecturers, researchers and staff have contributed to our university’s success with great professionalism and dedication. You have my deepest respect for this!
Reflecting on the past gives us confidence for the path ahead.
In the year to come, we will continue to pursue important priorities and goals: high-quality teaching, forward-looking research, efficient and responsible transfer, and a university culture that remains open, international, sustainable and humane.
I am confident that together we can continue to shape these developments successfully.
We have once again worked with great commitment this year, and our efforts have paid off. Not every idea could be implemented, but we achieved the objectives that mattered most.
For this, I would like to thank you most sincerely, both personally and on behalf of the university management, and I look forward to continuing our joint efforts to advance the development of our university.
After the final push that usually accompanies the end of the year, I hope you find the time and space to enjoy the things that bring you joy, so that you can recharge for a fulfilling and successful 2026.
I wish you and your families a peaceful festive season and a healthy, carefree and happy New Year!
Warm Christmas greetings,
Your
Prof. Waldemar Berg
