Library Info for First Semester Students
Library Info for First Semester Students12.3.2026 | Library
Here is an initial overview of what is important at the start of the semester:
Training offers:
Visit our training course Basic Library Knowledge (DEG / ECRI) and learn everything you need to know about the library. There are numerous dates at the beginning of the semester (face-to-face and online).
Alternatively, you can find out more on your own via our homepage.
Create a library account:
A library account is required for borrowing printed media, locker keys and study rooms: Account opening
Media:
Printed media can be retrieved independently from the shelves (if necessary after a prior OPAC search) and borrowed from the self-check-in desk. To do this, you will need your student ID card and the password assigned when you opened your account.
Electronic media are generally accessible via eduVPN/Eduroam. No library account is required for access, only the university ID for logging into eduVPN/Eduroam.
E-books can be found in OPAC. Subject databases are accessible via DBIS and electronic journals via OPAC or EZB.
Library as a place of learning:
- Main library/ECRI
- Food in the library and drinks in open containers are not permitted.
- The study rooms (upper floor and basement) in the main library are freely accessible.
- ITC2
- Learning rooms in ITC2 can be booked using the Seatsurfing room booking program (Brief overview of booking | ITC2 usage information). A valid library account is required. The rooms are accessible 24/7 during the booking period.
