Institute for secure, autonomous and connected systems

The Institute for Secure, Autonomous and Connected Systems (ISACS) brings together the expertise of Deggendorf Institute of Technology in the fields of networked systems, autonomous mobility, artificial intelligence, communication networks and cyber security.

Its research activities range from intelligent communication and energy systems, through autonomous vehicles and robotics, to trustworthy AI, post-quantum cryptography and resilient cyber-physical systems. Through the close integration of research, technology transfer and industrial application, ISACS develops solutions to the challenges of an increasingly connected and autonomous world.

Research Groups

ISACS brings together the research groups Intelligent Networks and Systems (iNETS), Autonomous Systems/Driver Assistance Systems (LASFAS) and Digital Security and Trustworthy Technologies (DiSecT). In this way, we create unique synergies across the entire value chain of intelligent systems.

Detailed information on research activities, laboratories and partnerships can be found on the respective research group’s page.

Intelligent Networks and Systems

The research group Intelligent Networks and Systems (iNETS) conducts research in the fields of energy networks and intelligent, programmable and time-critical communication networks.

This includes resource allocation and performance evaluation of modern communication networks and protocols, as well as novel programming and management concepts in the core network domain and in future 6G networks.

Selected research areas: Software-Defined Networking, Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN), edge clouds, smart grids, autonomic networking

Autonomous Systems / Driver Assistance Systems

The core areas of expertise of the research group Autonomous Systems / Driver Assistance Systems (LASFAS) lie in the model-based testing of sensor technology using Model-in-the-Loop (MiL), Software-in-the-Loop (SiL) and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL), as well as in the development of algorithms for autonomous systems.

Selected research areas: autonomous driving (ADAS), robotics, sensor fusion, digital twins, cooperative mobility, autonomous transport logistics

Digital Security and Trustworthy Technologies

The research group Digital Security and Trustworthy Technologies (DiSect) investigates the security and trustworthiness of digital systems throughout their entire life cycle – from cryptographic fundamentals and AI-based security methods to the human element as a central component of modern security architectures.

Selected subject areas: Post Quantum Cryptography, Human-Centered Security, Industrial Security, Automotive and Embedded-System-Security, Threat Detection
